Brand identity
Sushirrito is THE ORIGINAL sushi burrito restaurant. With a decade of success behind them, the owners felt it was time to refresh the brand and redirect the focus back to its Japanese roots.
The previous red, brown, and yellow colors indicate a more Latin flavor experience and the staff spent a lot of time explaining to confused diners that Sushirrito serves burrito-sized sushi.
Brand Evolution
To elevate the brand, we chose a deep blue color that symbolizes the sea in Japanese culture. It's a suitable color for a sushi concept and conveys a sense of high quality and sophistication.
Brand Guidelines
Sushirrito has expanded to 14 locations through licensing partnerships. This evolving brand guide helps to ensure a cohesive experience as the company grows.
Brand Pattern
I illustrated a pattern set to represent the many exotic flavors that Sushirrito has to offer. The pattern is used throughout the brand experience, creating a fun atmosphere for a casual brand that's serious about food.
Environmental Graphic Design
The brand pattern is integrated into Sushirrito's physical spaces to create an instantly recognizable visual identity.
Signage
The storefront signage incorporates a familiar brand element, bamboo, used throughout Sushirrito's interior design. I designed the sign to wrap the corner of the store for maximum brand visibility.
This window graphic is only visible when the sunlight shines on the window. This typically happens right around lunchtime, as if it’s saying, “come on in everyone!”
Window Graphics
Traditional window graphics draw attention to the entrance and create an inviting storefront. In most cases, white is the most visible application because the glass takes on a dark tint.

Email Marketing
This custom-designed email template makes it easy for Sushirrito's founder to craft compelling newsletters to entice customers with new offerings, remind them to share their positive experiences, invite them back, and encourage engagement with your social media profiles to reach new customers.
Social Media Strategy
There is a common misconception that Sushirrito is a large franchise. Through social media storytelling, we can accurately position the brand as small family business started by two founders who are still very involved in day to-day-operations. Posts include facetime with the owners, their families, and employees to connect with audiences on a more personal level.
Promotional Flyer
"Invisible sales" via online orders make restaurants look empty. This promotional flyer invites customers into the store for a discount, a strategy that increases foot traffic and creates a bustling vibe.
Packaging
The iconic pattern sets Sushirrito's brand apart from the many copy-cat brands that have popped up over the years.
E-commerce Design
Restaurant merchandise is an effective way to increase brand visibility and generate additional cash flow. With print-on-demand services, a small business can offer merchandise at almost no upfront cost.
Shopify Setup
Setting up Sushirrito's e-commerce sight included customizing a Shopify theme to represent the brand and integrating the store with the print-on-demand platform.
Merchandise Designs
Custom merchandise designs include apparel, accessories, and home goods. I also work with artists to create graphic tees that reflect Sushirrito's personality.
Challenged to create more than T-shirts and stay within tight budgetary constraints, I was inspired to design the world's first blanket that rolls up into a sushi roll! It's the most popular item in the merch store!
